Hey guys!!!! How are y’all doing?? I’m so excited because my blog turns 6 today. What?? 6 good years of putting out content on this platform consistently wow! I’m actually so proud of myself and as a matter of fact, I got in my feelings a while back, was reflecting on how far I’ve come and started drafting this post second week in September. The last time I did a bloggerversary post was in 2017 and you can read it 3 Years Bloggerversary. In 2018 and 2019, I couldn’t put up content or really celebrate my blog’s birthday because I had so much going on and it wasn’t the perfect timing but this year has been really great, despite the whole Pandemic and I also have time to celebrate.
When I started my blog, It was born out of passion and the need to inspire people. It started out as a hobby and I just really wanted a platform where I could get personal, share my fashion journey, thoughts and also take care of long term like a baby. I know there were some times where I went missing in action but it was always for a good reason and I’ve always updated you guys on everything that’s been happening to me over the couple of years. Considering the fact that blogging is not my full time job and I have a 9-5, I’m doing amazing. It’s a lot of hard work to be honest.
I’m so grateful to the Almighty God for helping me from day 1 I hit the publish button. It’s been a journey and I’ve learnt so much. Coming back to Nigeria after Med school, doing my internship, serving my country during NYSC, and creating content hasn’t been easy at all. Nigerian content creators are doing an amazing job. I also spend money on creating content but God’s grace has been sufficient. My blog has also brought me loads of amazing opportunities that I can not begin to mention. I’m so grateful to each and every one of you who reads my blog and It’s fulfilling / makes me happy when someone from another country messages to say oh I read your blog post and you are doing amazing. I mean, it’s so great to know and see my blog is read in different countries. I’m not even going to lie that I never get frustrated when I’m unable to shoot content, or I shoot, share and the views or comments are not encouraging but I’ve never for once thought to quit. If you know me very well, quitting is never an option for me and I’d always look for ways to make things work. It’s been great working with so many amazing photographers and brands. I also really do the job of being my stylist and makeup artist during blog shoots well, if I do say so myself.
Some of the lessons learnt in 6 years of blogging have not changed so you can please read 3 years Bloggerversary post to see all. One thing I’d just like to add is that as a blogger, consistency is key and you gotta be patient. One question I get asked a lot is how to start a blog. Honestly speaking, as an over thinker yeah? I’m surprised how I didn’t over think this decision made some years back. I just knew it was time to start a blog, did my research and started. Starting out perfectly wasn’t the goal. The goal was to start from somewhere, learn, improve and inspire people. I’m also someone who believes in not despising the days of little beginnings. At this point, I can see how far I’ve come, in the quality of content and how much people this little baby of mine has been able to reach. I have bigger plans for my blog like migrating to WordPress and also have a shop where I get to sell blog outfits I’d never wear again and other outfits from my closet.
For my shoot this year, I wanted to have fun which I did, also wanted to wear an African print dress and one of my favorite Afrocentric brands came through. My friend Sean came through with photography and my hair was also a gift. The color is soooo nice and I will rock the hell out of it lol. I’m really loved and so grateful to everyone that made this successful. Special s/o to my darling friends Stephanie and Noah. They’ve been helpful from day 1. May God bless you guys for me. I appreciate you guys so much.
Thank y’all for the continuous support, please keep visiting, commenting and sharing my blog content. Cheers to the next 6 years.
