A LIFE UPDATE.

Hello darlings! How are we all doing? Welcome back to my blog guys and if you are new here, you are also welcome. My name is Bukky. Today’s post is a life update one and I just realized the last time I did an actual life update post was in 2017 when I started my Medical Internship wow!
Although, in some of my blog posts especially when I’ve been Mia, I try to give reasons why but never go into details but today’s post is going to be very detailed so abeg, grab a bowl of popcorn lol.

A life update

So, from 2018 August – 2019 June, I served my Fatherland Nigeria and I did two blog posts on my Camp Experience and my Personal CDS Project which I did before passing out. I officially passed out in June last year and since then, It’s been a journey wow!. Now I’m ready to contest for any political position in future.

Lagos corper NYSC POP

The first thing I had to focus on after NYSC was exams. I had some international exams to write and they needed maximum focus although some didn’t go the way I wanted them to but it was still fine. I wasn’t even interested in getting a job then because there was no way I would have been able to combine all especially if I was working with the government.

In August 2019, I got an email to get featured under the ‘Street style’ section of GTBank’s fashion magazine titled ‘Africa’s Finest’, for their annual event known as the GTBank Fashion Weekend. A shoot was organized, it went well and the fashion weekend was really nice for me. This was a really great opportunity for me and S/o to Cassie Daves for putting me and other stylish individuals on. I also attended Lagos Fashion Week for some days.

The next thing that happened in October was being reached out to by a PR agency to influence for NIVEA. This was my highlight for the year 2019. Me? how? It didn’t feel real until I was sent the brief and got an invite to attend a meeting with the team. The day before the meeting, I had gone through my brief very well, was anxious as it was a big deal for me and it was going to be my first major meeting / deal so I didn’t want to mess things up. On the day of the meeting, I got there even before time and had said my prayers before leaving home lol! The meeting went really well and they made me feel comfortable as well.

NIVEA Love your lips campaign

Even after the meeting and I was sure I’d be influencing for them, it still didn’t feel real. To cut the long story short, I have been influencing for NIVEA since December 2019. The campaign is called #LoveYourLips and I am the main Nigerian Influencer on the campaign. I’m sure some of you must have seen me on digital platforms and even bought the lip balms after seeing me in the Ad.
I’m actually really grateful to God, because it came when I least expected it and wasn’t even sure what the next step would be. All I can just say about this is that as an influencer, consistency is key. Please just keep creating your content and everything will fall in place. You are in no competition with anybody. The God factor is also very important because I don’t know how it happened.

Nivea Nigeria Campaign

This campaign has also really pushed my creative side and I love it. My rates have also gone up oh!
You can get the lip balms from Shoprite, Jumia, Spar, Grocery Bazaar, etc if you are in Nigeria. The love on this campaign has been crazy both locally and Internationally. I’m thankful to all of you.
Also during this long break, I was going for some medical outreaches. I love Public health and really hope to pursue a career in it. God help me.

Nigerian Medical Doctor

Moving on, I was finally ready to start working lol but still didn’t want a General Hospital. I really wanted an NGO because of my interest in Public health but didn’t wanna go through the stress of reaching out to so many and most of them would want me to work outside Lagos. Maybe it also wasn’t God’s plan because honestly speaking, I wanted a job that’ll give me my weekends off. So, I decided to volunteer as a doctor in a Primary Health Care Center close to my house.

They agreed for me to volunteer but I kept on going to confirm when to start because I didn’t want to stay at home. To cut the long story short, I got a paid job because I was persistent and they were wondering why a Doctor would wanna work for free. I got this job via Divine connection and no earthly influence. Grateful to God. Sometimes, we plan to do things our own way but God has his own plans. I’ve met a lot of new people from after NYSC up till this moment. I’ve also worked with some other amazing brands. Another thing I have been doing is drinking water and minding my business oh. I try not to get involved in any drama at all.
I spent christmas and new year with family.

La Taverna Lagos Nigeria

In February this year, I launched my wig called “LADY DIOR” in partnership with my favorite natural hair brand NATURALGIRLWIGS for their #NaturalAndSexy campaign, for valentines day. This brand means a lot to me and I’m so happy I got to create a wig with them. The wig is a Faux Kinky Curly Wig with bangs. Back in uni, my favorite hairstyle used to be anything with bangs so this was perfect. The wig is sophisticated and chic.

You can support me by buying this wig. It costs N25,500 ($88) only. We ship world wide. Please shop LADY DIOR. God bless you.
Also in February, it was my Dad’s birthday and my lovely friends wedding. I was a bridesmaid and it was really nice to be part of Tiwa’s day. She made such a beautiful bride.

Feeling: Thankful and grateful to God for protection, provision and all the amazing opportunities he has brought my way.
Hoping: To strengthen my relationship with God, travel between now and my birthday in June on a sponsored trip, to work with more international brands, get lots of paid partnerships locally and visit more restaurants / places in Lagos.
Learning: That everything happens for a reason and irrespective of what happens, giving up is never an option for me, learning to trust God and his timing for me and finally making conscious effort not to be worried or anxious about things I have no control over and I always make reference to Philippians 4:6. It has helped me a lot.
Excited: About the rest of the year, I’m expecting something from God even though he has already started it, I cant wait for him to finish what he has started.
Loving: Cute floral dresses & mini bags. I got a couple on ASOS which was a gift, I’ve always loved perfumes but I’m crazy about them now lol (got gifted 3 new ones).
The songs I’m loving atm are Simi by you and Kiss Daniel Jore. Tiwa made me do it lol!

Wow! this was a really long one guys but I’m happy I did it. I hope you enjoyed reading this. Please let me know your thoughts in the comment section. I’d also love to know what you guys have been up to. Drop your blog links.  Cheers!!
