A REVIEW OF YEAR 2021

When December rolled around, I said to myself, Bukky, you really should start writing your 2021 in review. Looking at how the year has been, I have so much to be thankful for, and I’d be ungrateful if I didn’t write about how wonderful God has been to me.

Year 2021 in review
If you are not new to this blog, you know that I moved to the United States for my master’s degree in Public Health and have been chronicling the whole experience. I am extremely grateful for my parents and God for the opportunity. I am currently in Connecticut. I’m finding schooling here to be very interesting and there’s so much to learn in grad school.

End of 2021.

It was my dream to pursue this degree, and I am glad I am currently living one of my dreams. Sometimes, we forget to acknowledge or thank God that we are right in the middle of some of the things we wished for. “Gratitude produces deep, abiding joy because we know that God is working in us, even through difficulties.” –Charles Stanley.

Happy New year

I started writing this blog post while sitting in the lobby of my hotel. I went on a mini vacation with my friend in Washington D.C. for her 30th birthday, and I must say it was an interesting trip. I love traveling, and I am manifesting trips in 2022.

I even created the hashtag #PFExplores on IG oh! I really mean business o. God, please provide. I would love to visit at least 5 new places and countries by the year 2022. There’s so much that needs to be seen.

After I came back from DC, I took a break from writing this blog post because it was crazy at the end of the semester. I had papers and exams to write and deadlines to meet. The good thing is that I finished the semester with all A’s, and I‘m so proud of myself.
I then began preparing myself for another trip I had planned since summer a trip to the UK for a muchneeded break. I had last been here in 2015 when I was still in university, so I was looking forward to this trip a lot.
My holiday has been going well so far. I wrote the remainder of this post as soon as I got here.
Here is a brief recap of what happened in the year 2021.

In January, I relocated and started my Master’s degree as well as partnered with Ayoba, an instant messaging application.

February: I collaborated with FOREO, a Swedish brand, on one of my all-time favourite campaigns!

Foreo Cleansing Brush

March: Nothing exciting happened, but I had moved into my new apartment, was settling in, setting up the whole apartment, doing DIY’s and juggling everything with school.

April: I teamed up with Toyota to raise awareness for Connecticut families battling hunger, and I had a terrific time doing so. With the help of my tripod and remote, I was able to get back to making content.
I teamed with a Study Abroad Agency to provide more information to those interested in travelling abroad for a variety of reasons, including school, just like myself.
Finally, I was invited to my first event as an influencer here, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

End of year 2021

May: I partnered with some malls here in Connecticut for a Mother’s day giveaway. I also continued putting out content and worked with my first photographer here who also happens to be the first female photographer I’ve ever worked with. My pictures were clean and I kept putting out more content. In this same month, my friend and the photographer I currently work with Renny found me on Ig and reached out to me for a shoot. I’m so thankful to God for her and it just showed me God really pays attention to the little details cos I had been praying to find a photographer to work with. Finally, I partnered with Citizen watch US to promote one of their watches for spring. At the end of May, I also received something important for which I had been stressing. God was there for me. My first semester of graduate school ended in May as well.

June is the month in which I was born!!! I had done my obligatory birthday shoot which I really loved. I also traveled to NYC with my photographer and one of her other friends in the beginning to create content. You shouldn’t accuse me of doing nothing for you o. Always willing to go the additional mile, hehe. For my birthday, I had a wish-list and I received incredible items that blew my mind.
I collaborated with Floral Street, a British perfume brand, and Youth to the People, an American skin care brand. They were both occasions for gifting, which I greatly enjoyed.

End of 2021
July-August: I kept creating content and teamed up with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream for the summer. It was a fantastic cooperation that I thoroughly loved. Ice cream is a treat that everyone enjoys.

I also collaborated with Foxwoods Resorts Casino and a medical platform called Cribmd.
Content creation continued, and I met up with Yinka, my namesake and fellow blogger, to catch up and just have a good time. She also made me try crab cake for the first time which wasn’t bad at all.

2021 recap

September – October: I was particularly focused on content creation during these months, juggling it all with my personal life and education. I’m really proud of myself!
My friend Sola flew in from Nigeria, and we had a blast creating content and visiting New York City. We had an amazing one week and created beautiful memories. It’s amazing how easily an online friend becomes a family member.

November: School work became extremely demanding, but I had no choice but to persevere. This month, I also had one of the nicest collaborations with McDonalds! I enjoyed the campaign and gave it my all in creating such content. This was a thanksgiving/friends giving collaboration that I did with an Indian classmate. It was a lot of fun!
I also collaborated with Yinka and it was incredible to see two black influencers working together.
Collaboration over competition!

End of 2021

December: I was nearing the end of the semester and looking forward to my vacation, which I had planned to do outside of the United States.
In December, I went to Washington, D.C. with my friend Nida to celebrate her 30th birthday.
We returned to Connecticut, completed examinations, submitted papers, and completed the semester.  I was happy to have completed my first year as a graduate student, which means I just have one year left.
I also collaborated with Walmart to promote their beauty box, which is a low-cost, seasonal beauty subscription box. This was a wonderful gift-giving opportunity for me.

Finally, this month I traveled to the United Kingdom, where it was wonderful to see and catch up with my sisters, old friends, and simply have a good time.
I’ll remain here until January before returning to school and beginning my second year.

year 2021 in review
The year 2021 has really taught me a lot. I also made an effort to be a nice friend, sister, and daughter.
God kept reminding me that he was always with me, that he always straightened everything out for me, and I am eternally grateful to him.
In 2022, I will make every effort to worry less, to take each day as it comes, and to continue to trust God.

End of 2021
As we approach 2022, I am hopeful and confident that it will be an incredible year for me, full of new possibilities, answered prayers, and much more. I even wrote down my goals for 2022 at the beginning of the year and I am really looking forward to 2022.
Thank you so much for sticking with me, reading my blog posts, leaving comments, and generally showing me love. It is really appreciated.  See y’all next year. Happy New Year in Advance. Cheers!!
